Something Wonderful was founded forty years ago by a master seamstress, alteration specialist, and professional dressmaker Joyce Hittesdorf. Current owner and operator Sarah Knochel apprenticed under Joyce for ten years before inheriting and expanding the business. Now located and established in the Broad Ripple community in Indianapolis, Indiana, our studio boasts an expert staff with more than 100 years of fine sewing experience.
We specialize in high-end and formal dress alterations and specialty fabrics. Wedding gowns and celebratory event looks are our forte! Whether you need help looking your best for a day you’ll never forget, or just some tweaks on a bridesmaid’s dress, we are Indianapolis’ premier experts in alterations.
We also carry handmade veils and unique accessories to complete your perfect bridal look. Helping you style your outfit is one of our favorite things!

Working on bridal gowns is no easy feat. With seemingly endless yards of fabric, multiple layers of lace and tulle, and lots of secrets and tricks going on inside to create those stunning shapes, tackling the reshaping of your gown should not be left to the faint of heart or inexperienced. Our experienced seamstresses, hired because of their exceptional skill and attention to detail, go through months of training and apprenticeship before graduating to work on bridal gowns. Our 1,200-square-foot workroom holds the finest tools and machines necessary to complete your alterations with the highest professionalism.
